Our retreats are carefully designed for small groups of 10-15 people, providing you with the space and serenity to “Switch Off” from the outside world and recharge your mind, body, and spirit.

During our retreats, participants embark on a unique experience where they switch off their phones and make a heartfelt promise not to engage in verbal communication or eye contact with one another. This intentional silence allows us to delve deep into our own mental landscapes, free from the distractions of external influences.

Our retreats take place in remote natural environments, including pristine Natural Reserves and secluded islands, as well as carefully chosen closed environments where no external disturbances can interrupt your inner journey.

SCIENCE Behind Space Retreats

At SPACE Retreats, our foundation rests upon the principles outlined in the book ‘Professional Intuition in Decision-Making – We Shoot From The Hip’ by Seal Josephson, Ph.D. This groundbreaking book explores the science of intuition through a multi-disciplinary lens, integrating sociology, psychology, philosophy, quantum physics, biology, and economics to provide a holistic understanding.

Central to this philosophy is the ‘Unified Theory of Mind & Consciousness,’ which posits the ephemeral nature of both the mind and reality. This theory, supported by extensive research, elucidates how the mind and the fabric of reality briefly emerge, dance in existence, and then dissolve back into the vast expanse of space.

To participate in a SPACE Retreat, familiarity with this book is essential. It lays the intellectual and scientific groundwork required for full engagement with the retreat’s purpose and practices.

This philosophical journey encompasses meditation, contemplative walks, and specialized movements, leading individuals to a deeper understanding of themselves and the interconnected world around them.

Our approach emphasizes not only theoretical discourse but also practical applications for personal growth and development. It empowers individuals to utilize intuition for informed decision-making, fostering awareness intelligence and striving for a more harmonious life.

TRADITION, Space Retreats Root From

Next to science, we also build on meditation lineage traditions of Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism. While we apply their learnings, just by participating a SPACE Retreat and from a scientifical perspective applies meditation method of focusing the space-nature of mind and reality, doing some special body-movements one does not become a ‘Buddhist’.

The foundation of our silent retreats traces back to-, and are inspired by the teachings of Peter Galambos, a Hungarian biochemist who dedicated eight years to retreat in the Tibetan Nangchin province, leading to his full enlightenment. Under his guidance, Peter served as the retreat master for monks embarking on three-year retreats and worked closely with Adeu Rinpoche, one of Tibet’s highest lamas. After reentering the world, Peter passed on his retreat style to numerous individuals, particularly within his meditation groups in Hungary and China. His teaching approach was characterized by its friendliness and directness.

What Do We Do On Space Retreats?

On the first day, we commence by switching off our phones. Subsequently, we engage in discussions about the intellectual framework underpinning the retreat, establish agreed-upon rules, and individually commit to responsible participation through contract agreements. We then familiarize ourselves with the specific movements we will practice and align our schedules for meditation, tracking, meals, and rest.

Starting from the second day onward, we enter a period of silence, refraining from verbal communication and eye contact. Our focus turns inward as we diligently follow the schedules we’ve collectively agreed upon, dedicated to exploring and addressing our own mental tendencies.

Our guidance throughout the retreat encompasses meditation, walks, and the practice of specialized movements, facilitating a profound inward journey. During the initial days, you may find solace in sleep during meditation sessions, allowing you to release the burdens of the external world. This restorative process revitalizes your neural pathways and energy channels, culminating in heightened focus and clarity during the latter stages of the retreat.

In the initial days, you may find solace in sleep during meditation sessions as you release the burdens of the outside world. This process rejuvenates your neural pathways and energy channels, enabling you to achieve sharper focus during the latter part of the retreat.

Our focus at SPACE Retreats is threefold. We explore the space-nature of the mind and reality, which inspired our name. We recognize the inseparable connection between appearances and space. Most importantly, we learn to let go of the notion that we “need” to focus, allowing for a deeper, more natural awareness to emerge.

Who Leads Space Retreats?

The SPACE Retreats of HAPPINESS Consulting are led by a couple, Andrea Dakos and Seal Josephson, both students of Péter Galambos.

Andrea Dakos, a dedicated student of Galambos Peter in Hungary, played a pivotal role in both organizing and actively participating in the retreats offered by Peter in Hungary. Additionally, Andrea serves as a board member of the Peter Galambos Foundation, a collective effort by Peter’s students to safeguard their late master’s teachings and legacy.

Seal Josephson, a seasoned board member with a track record in three leading multinational corporations, strongly advocates for the human quality movement. Leveraging his background in economics, IT, Human Resources, and Leadership Development, Seal adeptly presents SPACE Retreats as a tool for achieving work-life balance and fostering human sustainability, steering clear of burnout. Seal holds a PhD in Personal Development and has authored the book “Professional Intuition in Decision-Making – Shoot From The Hip.” Connect to him at: LinkedIn.com/in/sealj

In terms of mind-teachings aquired, both Andrea’s and Seal’s roots trace back to the Karma Kagyü Lineage of the Karmapas, where they acquired the Mahamudra path from Karmapa’s trusted lama in the West, Lama Ole Nydahl.

Next to Lama Ole, Peter Galambos enriched their knowledge of dzogchen and chan huataus.

It’s important to note that despite boasting over two decades of meditation experience, neither Andrea nor Seal lay claim to enlightenment or liberation, as they humbly acknowledge they are not enlightened themselves. Instead, they selflessly serve as amiable facilitators who have received transmissions from esteemed masters. Their primary role revolves around guiding individuals on the path to liberation from disruptive thoughts and emotions, offering practices and heartfelt advice. They serve as friends and mentors, providing clear direction on the necessary steps to take. Crucially, they do not foster dependency among SPACE Retreats participants. Their sincere aspiration is to empower each individual to attain freedom and independence on their unique journey.
